Fiddlers Crossing, A Gathering Place is the official name of the space at Mountain Music that until recently was the Tehachapi Art Center. Now it will be filling the need for a small place for people to get together to play and listen to music, chat over a cup of coffee or tea and hold other small functions. Although the venue is still a work in progress, the Mountain Music staff and volunteers were able to get it up and operational in just two weeks.
The model for the venue is different from the usual coffee house. Most events will have a basic cover charge of $5.00, but once inside, coffee, tea and other drinks, snacks and goodies are free. Some concerts will have an additional cover charge, and people may volunteer to help for the evening in lieu of the admission charge. The hours Fiddlers Crossing will be open are flexible, but the intent is to stay open for after-theatre coffee and conversation.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. each night. Events start around 7 p.m. $5 suggested donation, with tips for the musicians on Friday and Saturday appreciated.
